AN UNKNOWN COMMENTARY ON NACHMANIDES'

MYSTIC DOCTRINES

The purpose of this article is to bring to attention the existence of an anonymous commentary on Maimonides' Mystic Doctrines, a commentary unrelated to the group of Solomon Ibn Aderet (Rashba). This commentary differs from those of the Rashba's students and utilizes a terminology which is also found in the Zohar and the Hebrew works of Moses de Leon. Since R. Joseph Anglegno and R. Isaac of Acre cite quotations in their writings whose source is the anonymous commentary, it is reasonable to assume that this work was written in the last decade of the thirteenth century.
